SESSION #15      Bible Study

Because the Word of God is inspired and alive, the believer must give it priority in his/her life by devoting time to reading and study.  In this session, we look at the way God’s Word reacts with us and affects us, and how it can help us to think, act and be more like Jesus!

SESSION #14      PRAYER

For the believer, especially one that understands that the God we worship (last week’s session) is a PERSONAL GOD, who desires to be intimately involved in our daily lives; prayer is critical.  Open communication with our personal God not only keeps us in contact with the Father, but also allows us the privilege of praying for others.  Take a look at this crucial second PRACTICE of the Believe series, and then go have a chat with your Father…

SESSION #13      WORSHIP

The first of the “practices” of a believer.  The way the “beliefs” we’ve just studied become part of who we are, is through “practicing”.  The first of these practices is WORSHIP…celebrating God for who He is, and for what He has done for us.

SESSION #12      ETERNITY            

It’s important to have a proper understanding of, and belief in eternity.  It affects how we live now, and also how we relate to others.  Find out why it is so important to “set your course, and trust your Garmin”!

SESSION #11      STEWARDSHIP

The lesson no one wants to hear!  Stewardship really is about more than just “money” (though that is part of it!).  What does it mean to really grasp the concept of “ownership” as a believer?  It changes your perspective on everything when you do!

Session #10        COMPASSION

God’s love for all people requires that we show compassion to those around us; sometimes easier said than done.  If you think you’re “too busy” or “too important”; find out why God expects us to take the time to do so…and how He uses it in His Kingdom work when we become “Jesus with skin on” to others.

Session #9           HUMANITY

The challenge all of humanity faces, and God’s great solution to our problem…and what He expects those of us who know Him personally to do about it!

SESSION #8         THE CHURCH

In addition to a healthy understanding of our spiritual identity, the other great resource for growth and enablement God has gifted to believers is His Church.  Four things that happen when we are engaged with His Church…all of which we need for spiritual maturity and equipping…

Not all AHA! moments happen in distant countries; many happen right at home.  A look at what the father did when the younger son returned, and also at the heart of the older brother in our story.

Session #8-It’s Not Too Late

The third “lie” that the enemy would have you believe, to keep you from taking ACTION.  The first two are “it will all work out anyway” and “I’ll do it later”; the third one is perhaps the most devastating…”it’s too late for you”.  Don’t believe this lie, the powerful truth of the Prodigal Son story is…it is not too late!

AHA!  Session #7: What Keeps Us From Action

The phrase for action in the Prodigal story is “so he got up”; but what is it that paralyzes us when we have those moments of sudden awakening, followed by experiences of brutal honesty, that keeps us from taking the action needed?  Why don’t all of our stories end with “so he got up”.  A look at two of the three things that keep us from following through with the last step of AHA!...ACTION.  (For the third one, you’ll have to tune in again next week!)

Why is it so hard for any of us to say those three simple words?  And yet, as hard as they can be to honestly say, there is a FREEING that takes place when we do.  The important step of BRUTAL HONESTY includes facing the reality of our sin, our rebellion, or our putting God in second position.  Discover the freedom and release of being honest before God, from the story of the Prodigal Son.

Literally every story we’ve studied so far points to this one!  God puts on human skin and becomes one of us in the form of a baby, to do for us what we could not do for ourselves, solve the problem of sin.  It is the greatest part of THE STORY

Session #21        Rebuilding the Walls

We close out the Old Testament by looking at the “remodeling” project under Nehemiah.  The Israelites needed to rebuild the walls that were in ruins in their lives, perhaps you need to do some wall-building as well.  It’s easy for things to fall into disrepair, but the Word of God and the Spirit of God stand ready to help, just as they did in ancient Israel.

Even when we start out with grand plans and good intentions, it seems that it is so easy to get “distracted”.  The Judean exiles found trouble with this same issue, but the word God sent through Haggai was good for them in their day; and is still pertinent to us today!

It's one thing to face consequences when we've disobeyed or rebelled against The Lord and His commands.  It is often much harder to deal with trials and setbacks when we are seeking to walk with the Lord and the wheels come off!  Such was the case with Daniel and is three close friends, find out how they dealt with it and how God used it

The Kingdom’s Fall (note, the “file” will probably be labeled as “The Saddest Prophet of All”, but I changed the title here to match the book)

The “up and down” spiritual cycle of Judah continues, with more downs than ups!  Sound familiar?  We all have those times when we drift, much as Judah did; but the Lord is ALWAYS faithful, and He pursues us with both unbelievable patience and undeserved mercies.  Just ask the prophet Jeremiah!

King Hezekiah (one of the few "good" kings of Judah) put his trust in the Lord; and he was not disappointed.  Against seemingly insurmountable odds, a powerful enemy was overcome.  A great testimony from THE STORY about how God gives both protection and provision to those that trust in Him

Personally, its my favorite story in the Bible. The story of Elijah and the prophets of Baal. A real man for God goes to work and gets it done. Experiences the incredible highs of being in God's will and then almost immediately takes his eyes off The Story and has some pretty low lows

Session #14 A kindom torn into. 

The story of Kingdom after Solomon. In the end, Solomon falls hard. His greed having got the best of him, but God;s promise to David is alive but the throne is about to get much, much smaller. Civil war is coming and Israel will never be the same. 

This is the story of Jeroboam and Rehoboam

Session #13   The King Who Had It All

Solomon was the wisest, wealthiest, most respected man of all time in his heyday…but he lost it by listening to wrong voices and making wrong choices.  What can we learn from his amazing, yet tragic installment in THE STORY?
